Finding the right therapist can seem overwhelming and time consuming. This can make it easy to put off the task of finding the therapist for you. But, in order to find a therapist, you first need to take some action! Do your research and reach out to some therapists who seem like they may be a good fit for you. Most therapists will offer a free initial consultation call to help you both to determine if the fit is right. It may take a few emails and calls, but stick to it and you will find your therapist! It may take a little patience.

Do your research and see if the therapist you are looking at seems like they would be able to help with your specific complaints. For an example, one of my specialties is treating eating disorders. If you are struggling with a possible eating disorder, it is crucial to find an eating disorder specialist. Through your research, you should be able to see if the therapist you are looking at can possibly help you with your specific issue. If you think that they may be a good fit for you and what you’re struggling with, reach out! Most therapists offer free initial consultation calls to help determine if they are right for you, and vice versa. Ask them whatever questions you have and see if it feels like they may be able to help you.

Chances are that if you’re thinking about this, you likely need/can benefit from seeing a therapist. When seeing a therapist, they can help you to gain clarity as to what you may be dealing with and are trained to help you through it. I’m a big believer that most people (if not all) can benefit from therapy and I’d rather a person get therapy and not need it than not get therapy when they do need it. All in all, therapy can help and if this is the question you’re asking yourself, I would recommend getting a therapist.
